This Privacy Policy explains what information The Good Bot ("the Bot," "we," "us") collects, how it is used, and your choices. By adding the Bot to your Discord server or using its features, you agree to this policy.
The Bot is operated by The Good Doctor (the "Operator") in connection with Good Doctor's Studio.
1.Information We Collect
The Bot is designed to collect as little information as possible, and only what is needed to provide its features. Specifically:
- Server configuration data. When a server administrator configures the Bot, we store settings such as channel IDs, role IDs and names, welcome and leave message text, feature toggles, and the channel chosen for bot update announcements. This is stored per server.
- Blacklist data. If a server uses the Bot's moderation tools, we store the Discord user IDs that a server has added to its blacklist, along with any optional note an administrator includes. This data exists only to enforce that server's own moderation choices.
- Message and reaction identifiers. For features like the highlights/starboard system, the Bot stores message IDs of content that has already been reposted, so it is not reposted twice.
- Live stream chat relay (temporary). If a server enables the live stream chat relay, the Bot temporarily holds the most recent messages from a single designated channel in memory so they can be displayed on the Good Doctor's Studio website during a stream. This is a small, rolling buffer that is not written to long-term storage, is cleared when the watched channel changes, and is lost when the Bot restarts.
- Song and challenge data. When users share or submit songs through the Bot's music and review features, the Bot may process the song link and associated public metadata (such as title, artist, and cover art) to play, display, or queue the content.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as described below.
2.How We Use Information
We use the information above solely to:
- Provide the Bot's features (music playback, queues, polls, reviews, moderation, logging, welcome messages, and server setup).
- Remember each server's settings between sessions.
- Enforce a server's own moderation decisions.
- Display live stream chat on the Good Doctor's Studio website when a server enables that feature.
3.Third-Party Services
To function, the Bot relies on third-party services, and information may pass through them according to their own policies:
- Discord: the platform the Bot runs on. Your use of Discord is governed by Discord's own Terms and Privacy Policy.
- Content sources: when playing or resolving songs, the Bot may contact services such as YouTube, Spotify, and Suno to retrieve audio streams, lyrics, and metadata.
4.Data Storage and Retention
Configuration, blacklist, and similar data are stored on the Operator's own server infrastructure and retained for as long as the Bot remains in your server. The temporary chat relay buffer is held only in memory and is not retained.
5.Your Choices and Data Removal
- Remove a setting: Server administrators can change or clear most stored settings at any time using the Bot's configuration commands.
- Remove blacklist entries: Administrators can remove entries from their server's blacklist using the Bot's commands.
- Remove all data for a server: Removing the Bot from a server stops further data collection for that server. To request deletion of any data associated with your server, contact the Operator (see Section 7).
6.Children's Privacy
The Bot is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required to use Discord in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from anyone below that age.
7.Changes & Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Bot after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
